Not your ordinary parking lot
Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium recently hired Signworks to build and install new signage. The Zoo’s recent acquisition of the former Rosenblatt Stadium property presented the opportunity to expand and update its main entrance and parking lots. This expansion project involved an extensive sign package that allowed for a unique and strategic approach to their wayfinding system.
The area where the stadium once stood created vast new space for additional parking for zoo-goers. Henry Doorly Zoo’s graphics department developed a strategy that allowed the excitement and thrill of what lies within the gates to be present beyond the gates as well.
Each new parking lot was assigned a unique animal theme and each row a letter representing an animal. For example, when it’s time to find your car, think: Goose. That really means you parked in the Bird Lot, Row G! Or think Alligator: it’s in the Reptile Lot, Row A! It's a game of finding your family's truckster in the Bird Lot, Rows A-H; the Reptile Lot, Rows A-G; or the Mammal Lot, Rows A-O. It’s fun for the whole family!
In addition to the newly expanded parking lot, additional upgrades to the zoo have been made including the beautiful and welcoming Main Entrance, updated signage for Guest Services, Restrooms and more.
When you are ready to think beyond the gates with your wayfinding sign system contact Signworks at 402-346-5447 or by email. In the meantime, we’ll see you at the Zoo!
