Signworks plays role in greeting millions to Omaha
Right now, tourism is enjoying a renaissance in Omaha. Look at major attractions like Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo & Aquarium, where attendance has skyrocketed in the past few years and greatly contributed to our city’s ongoing success. Signworks is proud to work with such a widely celebrated client and provide them with effective new signage and identity.
After the Zoo’s acquisition of Rosenblatt Stadium, we updated its main entrance and parking lots—a project that required us to build and install new signs that served as a quick, easy wayfinding system for tourists and zoogoers.
The result was a fun, bold set of navigation signs that also marked different sections of the parking lot with animal names from Bird, Reptiles and Mammal. The Elephant features a rendering of a distinctly grey and wrinkled hide. It not only directs people where to walk; it teases them to walk a little faster to get to their favorite zoo attractions.
Henry Doorly Zoo is just one installment in Signworks’ ongoing mission to not only make signs and storefronts more impactful across Omaha, but also make our city more enticing for new tourists, easier to navigate, and most of all, easier to enjoy.
Another example to illustrate this was back in 2012—the year that Omaha held the U.S. Olympic Swim Trials—when more than 11 million visitors came to our city. The first thing all of the swimmers and fans saw when they arrived at Eppley Airfield? A massive banner welcoming them both, featuring a dazzling image of an Olympic swimmer churning through water--Signworks installed the banner.
Right now, tourism averages around $137 per visitor. That’s brand new money being brought into our city. Signworks aims to help grow that amount with beautiful, impressionable signage that not only makes tourists feel welcomed, but gives fantastic directions when necessary. Like any good Omahan would do.
