More Than Just Signs: A Community Statement
The new Food Bank for the Heartland headquarters isn't just a building; it's a beacon of hope and support. As a local sign company, Signworks understands that signage is more than just identification-it's about creating a welcoming, clear, and inspiring environment.
Our team worked closely with the Food Bank to design, fabricate and install a variety of signs including:
- High-Visibility Exterior Signage: Ensuring the new location is easily identifiable for donors, volunteers, and those seeking assistance.
- Interior Wayfinding & Branding: Guiding visitors through the new facility and reinforcing the organization's mission throughout the interior space.
This is an exciting milestone for both Signworks and the Omaha community.
On March 8th, Signworks joined Food Bank for the Heartland for the ribbon-cutting ceremony of their new 105,000 square-foot facility at 84th and L Street.
The move to this expanded 12-acre campus follows a massive $37 million capital campaign designed to address record-breaking levels of food insecurity in Nebraska and western Iowa.
Why This New Facility Matters
- Increased Capacity: The new warehouse is 40% larger than the previous location, featuring a 63% increase in cooler and freezer space to store fresh produce and perishables.
- Protein Repack Center: A dedicated center now allows volunteers to break down large quantities of frozen protein into family-sized portions, a capability shared by only a few food banks nationwide.
- Better Accessibilty: With nine dock doors and nearly double the parking (approximately 170 spots), the facility can now manage high-volume logistics and volunteer shifts more efficiently.
- Community Impact: The expansion supports the Shine the Light on Hunger initiative, which recently generated over 15 million meals-the most successful campaign in its 19-year history.
Signworks is proud to support the visual branding and signage that helps this vital organization guide its volunteers and partners as they serve 93 counties across the region.
